Married for 80 years!!!

A british couple recognised as having had the world's longest marriage ever recorded celebrated their 80th anniversary yesterday and revealed the secret to wedded bliss as never letting arguments fester.

Or, as 105 year old Percy Arrowsmith puts it, the regular use of two words: " Yes, dear."

Mr Arrowsmith and his 100 year old wife, Florence, were married on June 1, 1925.

The couple have three children, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A series of newspapers featured their story yesterday, with Mrs Arrowsmith attributing the success of their union to hard work and never going to bed with an argument unresolved.

"We don't often quarrel. We never go to bed as bad friends." "If you've had a quarrel, you make it up - never be afraid to say sorry," she said.

According to The Scotsman, Mrs Arrowsmith revealed last month that they still kiss each other every night before going to sleep and hold hands, adding: "He can't settle down if i'm not holding his hand."

The Arrowsmiths have been certified as record-holders by the Guinness Book of World Records, the reports added, beating a Japanese couple who stayed together for 78 years and 296 days from 1926. And with a staggering combined age of 205, they also hold the title for "oldest married couple's aggregate age". - Taken from the Singapore Stairts Times June 1, 2005

Somehow i know that true love do exist, it's more on how we make things out. When i'm married someday, i'll surely take their advise seriously. But right now, live singlehood as happily as i can!!
